FREAK BOY In my book Freak Boy by Kristen Elizabeth Clark, The main character, Branden is on his high school wrestling team and he has some issues with his teammates and his coach. They call him words that intend him to be a female and instead of his coach sticking up for him, he joins the rest of Branden's teammates so he hates them but I think the girl he likes is on the team, so he sticks around. The book was a little confusing at first on who is talking and who the narrator is talking about and it still is a little but I think I figured it out for the most part. There was one moment Branden was talking and then the next page Vani, the girl he likes, was...well, you'll have to read the book to find out. I recommend this book to anyone. Its not to long and its very easy to read but if you dont pay attention to what you are reading you will get lost like I did.

Jaclyn Hough We Were Liars By E. Lockhart One family: love, addiction, death. The island of wealth that covers up the problems. A wealthy and successful family. Many summers were spent on the private island that brought the kids together year after year. This group of four were soon to be known as the Liars. Soon there would be so much destruction between the Liars friendships and with the family, when the main character Cadence had suffered a brain injury. This injury takes a big affect on Cadence where she said “I used to be strong, but now I am weak” (4). It took a lot of learning to find what had happened to her. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an unexpected ending. Throughout this book you build up an idea of what may be going on but at the end it will totally shock you. This book sucked me right in. This book hits many topics of addiction and death that many young adults may relate to. But wealth and power will try to cover up thes...

Amy Benoit 30 October 2017 Mrs. Black English 12 "The Fire Next Time" by James Baldwin Has the complexion of your own skin ever been a problem? A problem that society can’t handle; that you are looked at, and treated differently for. James Baldwin was one of those boy’s that wasn't recognized for his intelligence or who he was. To society man of color were nothing, but a black boy's that cause trouble. The way he was raised came with a constant reminder from his parents that he is a “black boy”, and not to dream too big which originally would mean back in the days don’t dream at all. At that time racism was a huge factor in the United States. Black boys were raised to hide from the cops before they even knew how to read in my opinion. He spoke about how the world was for the white, and blacks are just living in it meaning that whites are superior to blacks an example of this is " to act is to be committed, and to be committed is to be in danger.
